We are now hiring an Engineering Manager with recent hands-on development experience who will be responsible for one of our engineering teams. We are looking for someone with experience leading teams of engineers, and participating on development tasks across the stack. 

The main technologies our team uses are PHP, React, Kotlin, Typescript, MySQL, Docker, Kubernetes, among others. Familiarity with our stack is preferred.

You will report to our Director of Engineering, and be in charge of one of our 4 awesome Engineering teams and collaborate with our Product, Support, and customer success teams.

The position is full-time, based in our Copenhagen office. 

What would be your responsibilities?

Team leadership

  • Act as hiring manager for engineering positions for the team
  • Conduct one-to-ones with team members, and identify development opportunities
  • Coach and mentor engineers to ensure personal and professional development
  • Identify upskilling needs of the team

Technical leadership

  • Own the technical roadmap for the team
  • Advocate for T-shaped developers and knowledge sharing
  • Provide architectural guidance for the team
  • Promote adoption of engineering practices

Product development

  • Hands-on development, contributing to Penneo’s codebase and applications.
  • Participate in and facilitate architecture discussions
  • Participate in stakeholder meetings to ensure alignment with engineering perspectives
  • Lead technical feasibility discussions regarding product features/changes

During the 1st month, you will:  
  • Get to know your team members and processes in the team;
  • Get comfortable with the day-to-day operations of the Product Development Team;
  • Understand the problems that the Penneo products solve for customers;
  • Fix a bug in the product.
Within 3 months, you will: 
  • Have proven to be a team player;
  • Identify ways to improve the way we do development.
Within 6 months, you will:  
  • Understand the legal requirements that affect the product roadmap;
  • Engage in helping others understand the Sign product platform better;
  • Have participated in meetings with external stakeholders.
Within 12 months, you will:  
  • Have full ownership of the product team from an engineering perspective;
  • Have made an impact on the scalability and maintainability of the product;
  • Have established and executed initiatives that strengthen the professional development of the product development team.
